The municipality Kobuleti ( Georgian ქობულეთის მუნიციპალიტეტი , Kobuletis munizipaliteti ) is an administrative unit (roughly equivalent to a district ) in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara in western Georgia , on the coast of the Black Sea .

The administrative center of Kobuleti Municipality is the city of the same name, Kobuleti . The area is 720 km². At 74,794 (2014), the population has fallen sharply compared to the previous census (88,063 inhabitants 2002).

In the north it is bounded by the municipality of Osurgeti , in the southwest by the city of Batumi and the municipality of Chelwachauri , in the south by the municipality of Keda and in the southeast by the municipality of Shuachewi . The climate is subtropical in the flat parts . The average rainfall is 2500–3000 mm, the average annual temperature is between 13 ° C and 15 ° C. The main rivers of Kobuleti Municipality are the Choloki on the northern border and the Kintrischi, which flows into the sea at Kobuleti . The highest mountain is the Qanli ( ყანლი ) with 2987  m height in the Meschetian Mountains , which runs through the eastern part of the municipality. The small, 7 meter deep “Black Lake” ( შავი ტბა , Schawi tba) is well known.

The largest localities besides Kobuleti (16,546 inhabitants) and the minor towns Ochchamuri (5,355 inhabitants) and Tschakwi (6,720 inhabitants) are the villages of Boboqwati , Chuzubani , Dagwa , Kobuleti (independent village about ten kilometers east of the city of the same name), each with over 2000 inhabitants . Attractions

The municipality of Kobuleti is rich in stone age , ancient and medieval monuments and sights. The Stone Age settlement Kintrischi and the Bronze Age settlement Tschaissubani are located in the area of ​​the municipality . At Zichisdsiri remains of the ancient city of Petra have been preserved. There are also several medieval fortresses and castles.

There are several seaside resorts in Kobuleti Municipality, such as Kobuleti and Zichisdsiri.
