The start of the 2011 marathon

The Osaka Women's Marathon ( Japanese 大阪 国際 女子 マ ラ ソ ン Ōsaka Kokusai Joshi Marason, German International Women's Marathon Osaka ) is a marathon for the female running elite that has been held in Osaka since 1982 in January .

The start and finish is the Nagai Stadium . After the runners have left the stadium, the first kilometers are through Nagei Park. The course then runs north to Osaka Castle and from there west, past Osaka Pref. Office, the Osaka Tenman-gū and the Osaka City Office. From here in a southerly direction to the turning mark and then on the same route back to the stadium.

In 1995 the race was canceled due to the Kobe earthquake . From 2013 to 2015 Tetjana Hamera-Schmyrko won three times in a row . Because of doping , however, their victories were subsequently revoked.
