Tomorrow Today was a German satirical talk show of ZDF . The cabaret artist Frank-Markus Barwasser received prominent guests in his role as Erwin Pelzig.

concept

The concept was based on Barwasser's show Minded! Pelzig talks to, which he produced for Bavarian television from 1998 until his contractual transfer to ZDF at the end of 2010 . After switching to the ZDF political satire Neues aus der Anstalt , Bayerischer Rundfunk did not extend his contract, so he accepted the offer from ZDF for his regionally colored late night show . Barwasser himself said of the concept of the show: “It's a channel change, not a format change”, but announced some minor changes. In 2011 seven issues were broadcast.

In addition to the conversations with prominent guests, Pelzig's sponsor Clara S. appeared at irregular intervals. She first appeared on the April 12, 2011 broadcast.

Seven episodes were broadcast each year and eight in the last two years. A repetition took place on the following Sunday and Monday at ZDFkultur . In October 2015, Pelzig announced the end of its year-end broadcast in order to “turn to new ideas and projects”. The last episode aired on December 1, 2015.

production

The broadcast was produced by the Munich company RedSpider Networks in the ARRI studios in Munich, where Die Anstalt is also produced.

Audience ratings

The premier broadcast of Pelzig holds up was followed by 2.80 million viewers. This enabled ZDF to achieve a market share of 12.6%. In the group of 14 to 49 year olds, 500,000 viewers watched, which corresponded to a relatively weak market share of 5.2%.

criticism

Jan Schlueter wrote a review for the first program for the websitequotemeter.de , in which he rated Pelzig as "entertaining and entertaining". The editor describes the “stand-up passages” with which Pelzig begins the program and creates the transitions between the guests as “real highlights”. In contrast, the conversations lacked comedic elements. From Schlüter's point of view, the most interesting conversation developed with the politician Rezzo Schlauch . For the other editions of the show, the editor sees a slight "need for improvement".

Awards

In 2011, Pelzig was awarded the German Comedy Prize in the category Best Late Night Show . In 2013, Pelzig received an award in the television entertainment category from the German Academy for Television .
