Planrupt is a French commune with 304 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Marne department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Champagne-Ardenne ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Dizier , to the canton of Wassy and to the municipal association of Saint-Dizier, Der et Blaise, founded in 2016 . The inhabitants call themselves Mairuptiens .

Planrupt is located in the sparsely populated southern Champagne , about 18 kilometers southwest of Saint-Dizier . Planrupt is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Giffaumont-Champaubert in the north, Éclaron-Braucourt-Sainte-Livière in the northeast, Frampas in the east, Montier-en-Der in the south and west and Rives Dervoises in the west and northwest.
