Nomécourt (1793 and 1801 still with the spellings Nommécourt and Nomecourt ) is a French commune with 110 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Marne department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Champagne-Ardenne ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Dizier and the association of municipalities Bassin de Joinville en Champagne, founded in 2013 . The residents call themselves Nomécourtois .

geography

The municipality of Nomécourt is located 25 kilometers southeast of the arrondissement capital of Saint-Dizier in the gently rolling hills between the north-facing river valleys of Blaise and Marne . In the municipality of Nomécourt, which covers 10.77 km², there are no surface watercourses because the calcareous subsoil allows precipitation to seep away. A three kilometer long dry valley , which marks the eastern border of the municipality, can absorb snowmelt and heavy rain events and divert them over the Le Ru to the Marne. In the north-east and south of the commune, forests spread out (parts of the Bois de Joinville and Bois des Princes ); the majority of the community area is used for agricultural purposes. In the extreme southeastern tip of the municipality, the highest point is reached at 325 m above sea level.

Neighboring communities of Nomécourt are Chatonrupt-Sommermont in the north, Joinville in the east, Mathons in the south and Guindrecourt-aux-Ormes in the west.

Population development

In 1846 the population of the municipality reached its highest level to date with 355 residents.

Attractions

The three-aisled church of Sainte-Colombe ( St. Kolumba ) dates in the oldest parts (the choir) from the 13th century. The originally wooden bell tower rose above the cloister of the transept. In the 18th century renovations took place, so the new bell tower was moved over the choir. The naves were renewed at the beginning of the 20th century.

The castle ( Château du Mont Rémy ) with an extensive park is located northeast of the village center and has been owned by the "de Montremy" family for several centuries. It has seen a lot of changes over time. Few remains of its original state, which was likely a protective fortress of Joinville Castle or a large agricultural holding. The main building of the castle is now in the style of the 19th century.

Weizere sights are a former public wash house ( Lavoir ), a fountain and a water tower.

The D 60 trunk road from Brienne-le-Château to Joinville runs through the municipality of Nomécourt . Further road connections exist with Mathons , Sommermont and Guindrecourt-aux-Ormes . In the city of Saint-Dizier , 25 kilometers to the north-west, there is a connection to the RN 4 from Paris to Nancy, which has been developed like a motorway . The train station in Joinville, six kilometers to the east, is on the Blesme-Haussignémont-Chaumont railway line .
