Thonnance-lès-Joinville is around 38 kilometers north of the city of Chaumont in the north of the Haute-Marne department. The municipality is located on the right bank of the Marne between the hills Murmont in the south and La Perche in the north. In terms of traffic, the municipality is easily accessible with a connection to the N67 within the municipality boundary .
history
The place is mentioned for the first time as Tonancia in the document collection of Warin in the year 863. According to the statements of the nobleman Simon de Joinville, the place was then owned by the Bishop of Châlons. Thonnance-lès-Joinville historically belongs to the Bailliage de Chaumont within the province of Champagne . The place belonged from 1793 to 1801 to the District Joinville. Also to the canton of Curel from 1793 to 1801 and to the canton of Joinville from 1801. The parish was assigned to the Arrondissement Wassy from 1801 to 1926 and 1940 to 1943 and the Arrondissement Chaumont from 1926 to 1940. Since 1943 it has belonged to the Arrondissement of Saint-Dizier.
