Nully is a French commune with 161 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Marne department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Champagne-Ardenne ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Dizier and the association of municipalities Bassin de Joinville en Champagne .

At the 6th stage of the Tour de France 2005 there was an intermediate sprint classification in Nully.

geography

The municipality is located about 35 kilometers south-southwest of the arrondissement capital of Saint-Dizier . The poorly structured, plateau-like and wooded landscape between the river valleys of the Marne and Aube has no surface running waters. Some arid valleys point north. Extreme precipitation can flow off to the Voire .

Neighboring municipalities to Nully (clockwise, starting from the north) are: Sommevoire , Blumeray , Beurville , Thil (in the Aube department ) and Trémilly .

history

The village first appeared in 1124 under the name Nuilly . The name of the municipality Nully, which has been official since 1793, finally developed from the spelling Nuilleyum . In 1789 Nully belonged to the Bailiwick of Chaumont in the province of Champagne. The parish of Nully was part of the Margerie deanery in the Diocese of Troyes . In 1972 Nully was merged with the neighboring municipality of Trémilly to form the double municipality of Nully-Trémilly . Since 2004 the two communities have been independent again.

Eleven farms are located in the municipality (mainly grain cultivation).

Nully is on the D60 from Brienne-le-Château to Joinville . 36 kilometers south of Nully there is a connection to the A 5 autoroute from Paris to Langres .
