Effincourt is a French commune with 61 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Marne department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Champagne-Ardenne ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Dizier and the association of municipalities Bassin de Joinville en Champagne, founded in 2013 . The residents are called Effincourtois .
geography
The municipality of Effincourt is located immediately south of the Barrois landscape in a very rural area on the border with the Meuse department , about 35 kilometers southeast of Saint-Dizier and 42 kilometers northeast of Neufchâteau . The municipal area of 12.31 km² is characterized by a high plateau that is divided into two halves by the narrow valley of the Saulx river . In the east there is the forest area Les Feyreux , in the east the large forest Bois le Ban . In the southwest of the municipality, five wind turbines were installed on the windy high plateau. Effincourt is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Paroy-sur-Saulx in the north, Montiers-sur-Saulx in the northeast, Saudron in the east, Pansey in the southeast, Montreuil-sur-Thonnance in the southwest and Osne-le-Val in the west.

Economy and Infrastructure
Five farms are located in Effincourt (cultivation of grain, pulses and oilseeds, horticulture, animal husbandry).
Only a few kilometers east of Effincourt is the 30 square kilometer underground tunnel system of the underground laboratory operated by the French nuclear waste authority ANDRA (Agence Nationale pour la Gestion des Déchets Radioactifs) in Bure to research the local geological conditions for the construction of the Bure nuclear waste disposal facility .
Effincourt is away from the nationally important traffic flows. The trunk road from Stainville to Germay runs through the community . Another road connection leads to the municipality of Osne-le-Val . In Stainville, 19 kilometers away, there is a connection to the motorway-like RN 4 from Saint-Dizier to Toul . The train station in Joinville, 13 kilometers away, is on the Blesme-Haussignémont-Chaumont railway line .
