Primera División (Mexico) 1983/84
The 1983/84 season was the 41st regular championship round in Mexico since the introduction of the Primera División in the 1943/44 season.
The relegated from the previous season , CD Zacatepec , was replaced by the promoted Unión de Curtidores, who could only achieve 19 points in the entire season and was relegated back to the second division at the end .
As has been practiced for several years, the competition was divided into 4 groups of 5 teams each. Regardless of this, each team in the league continued to play against each other twice (in one home and one away game). At the end of the league round, the two best-placed teams in each group qualified for the final round, which, starting with the quarter-finals, was played in play-off mode.

final
For the first - and to date (as of the end of 2019) only - time the Súper Clásico del Fútbol Mexicano took place in the final . Its fundamental explosiveness was increased by the fact that when the two teams met in the previous season, there was a mass brawl on the field. This time the Club Deportivo Guadalajara came with no beneficial result (2: 2) to return to the Azteca Stadium , but could go again just before half-time lead when Ernesto Cisneros that of Américas goalkeeper Héctor Zelada to "Snoopy" Pérez -inflicted penalty in Tor would have accommodated. Because of this miss, the unlucky raven became the scapegoat of the Chivas fans for the final defeat.
