After the First World War, there were many young people in Innsbruck and the still independent municipality of Hötting who played football, including the FC Liga, which was based in the Höttinger Au. Due to the lively popularity in the village of Hötting, which has over 10,000 inhabitants, a meeting was called on, the Hötting sports club was founded and celebrated with a founding party in the "Bären" inn on January 19, 1923. At the first general assembly in the restaurant "Rößl in der Au", Albert Schober was chosen as the first chairman and a football-loving fellow citizen, Mr. Flunger, had a meadow near the Höttinger swimming pool, the Flunger sports field . The new sports club initially played in the Tyrolean B-Class. In 1927 it was promoted to the A-class, two years later the club had to relegate to the penultimate place, only to be eligible to play in the first division again a year later in the next season. In 1932 the sports club won the Tyrolean championship title in amateur football for the first time and also played on the Flunger sports field for the last time . After Höttinger became champions for the second time in 1934, the club played on the Tivolisportplatz , among other places , the club's management decided to change its name at an extraordinary general meeting on September 25, 1934: the club now appears as the Innsbruck sports club. Hötting itself became a district of Innsbruck in 1938. After the name change, the club won the championship in 1935 and 1938. That should remain the most successful years for some time.

After the war, the ISK played in the Innsbruck class and qualified with a second place for the Tyrolean regional league. There the sports club took second place behind SV Innsbruck, and was the Tyrolean champion for one year. The years that followed were fourth and third, which also meant qualification for the Arlbergliga, which was newly created in 1950. The competitors at that time were SV Innsbruck , SK Kufstein and Innsbrucker AC .

In 1960/61 the Innsbrucker SK played together with the Innsbruck Police SV the championship in the Regionalliga West, the renamed league that was formerly called the Arlbergliga. Nevertheless, the sports club could not keep up. After three years of the Tyrolean Regional League, the club rose again to the Regionalliga West, where it was able to hold out for two years. The remaining years until 1974 the club remained in the Tyrolean regional league. Twice the Höttinger narrowly missed promotion to the Regionalliga West with a second place. The opponents at that time were SV Innsbruck, SV Hall, SV Kematen, SK Kufstein, ESV Austria Innsbruck, SC Kundl, Innsbrucker AC, SC Schwaz, SC Imst and many more.

While Innsbrucker SK has always stayed in the Tyrolean regional league in recent years, another Innsbruck club has financial difficulties. The Innsbruck sports club has had a few changeable game seasons and got into turbulence in 1974. So the two clubs decided to found a syndicate that related to the fighting teams and the two clubs played under the name of SPG Innsbruck .
In 1976 ESV Austria Innsbruck joined the syndicate, then the club name was renamed SPG Raika Innsbruck with the involvement of the main sponsor .
In this constellation, the game community won the title in the Alpine League and qualified for the 2nd division of the Bundesliga in the 1978/79 season . There, the syndicate achieved third place in the first year of the second division, the next year they played a 1-1 draw against SSW Innsbruck in the local derby in front of 14,000 spectators and SPG Raika Innsbruck finally took fourth place in the table.
Investments were made in the summer of 1980 and players were signed ( Dietmar Constantini , Günther Caha, Wolfgang Schwarz, in autumn also Hans Pirkner and Peter Koncilia ), with whom the club expected an increase in performance in order to participate in the promotion campaign. After the big goal - promotion to the top division - was clearly missed, the game community was dissolved in 1982 and the individual sponsoring clubs disintegrated. Innsbruck SK founded a syndicate with SK Rum in 1983, which existed until 1986.

In the 2002/03 season, the sports club was sixth in the Tyrolean league. A year later it was enough for second place, which was enough to move up, as the Wörgl amateurs continued to play in the telesystem Tirol League. In the Regionalliga West, the team of the sports club did not find a connection to the midfield of the Regionalliga and so Innsbruck had to be content with 13th and 16th place. From now on a please time began for the sports club: within three years the club had to come to terms with the fact that it had made it into the regional league.

Although the sports club made it to the Regional League West in the first year in the Regional League West, it stayed there for a year. Innsbrucker SK played in the regional league West for two years when those responsible decided to dissolve the Innsbruck sports club and to found the Innsbruck West (SPG Innsbruck West) game community together with SV Lohbach / Kranebitten . The Innsbruck sports club, which was founded in 1923, no longer exists.
