Saint-Just-en-Chaussee is a French municipality with 6013 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Oise in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is part of the Arrondissement Arrondissement Clermont and is the main town ( chef-lieu ) of the canton of Saint-Just-en-Chaussée .
Saint-Just-en-Chaussée is part of the Communauté de communes du Plateau Picard .
geography
Saint-Just-en-Chaussée is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Quinquempoix in the north, Plainval in the northeast, Ravenel in the east, Angivillers and Lieuvillers in the southeast, Valescourt in the south, Nourard-le-Franc in the west and Catillon-Fumechon in the northwest.
The Saint-Just-en-Chaussée train station is on the Paris – Lille line . The former Route nationale 38 and 329 run through the village .
history
Legend has it that Saint Justus de Beauvais was beheaded here (or in Amiens ) in 287 when he was ten years old because of his beliefs by a Roman. His relics can be found all over Europe (also several times). In 1119 the abbey was founded by the bishops of Beauvais, who had one of their residences here between the 12th and 14th centuries. In 1347 the bishops' château was razed.
