The Remix is a remix album released in 2010 by the American singer Lady Gaga .

The remix album contains remixed versions of songs from the first two albums The Fame and The Fame Monster . Many artists produced the remixed versions of the respective songs, including Pet Shop Boys , Passion Pit , Marilyn Manson and The Sound of Arrows .

Lady Gaga is shown naked and wounded on the album cover . Some parts of her body are covered with headlines . The cover image comes from the Super Deluxe Edition of The Fame Monster and was photographed by David LaChapelle .

Some remixes of the album were already on her first remix EP "Hitmixes". Like the previous albums, the remix album was also well received by critics, which Lady Gaga especially for the reinterpreted versions of her hits.

The remix album has already achieved top placements in Greece , Belgium , Canada , Ireland , Japan and the United Kingdom and top twenty positions in many other countries. The remix album was awarded gold in Japan in April 2010 .

On April 15, 2010, the Guardian reported that numerous artists such as the Pet Shop Boys , Passion Pit and rocker Marilyn Manson will be working on Lady Gaga's remix album, The Remix . The album contains various remixed versions of Lady Gaga's hits. The album was released in Japan on March 3, 2010 and contains 16 remix versions of Gaga's hits on the Japanese version of the remix album. The standard version with 17 remix versions was released on May 3, 2010. Manson worked on the Chew Fu remix of LoveGame , Passion Pit on the remix version of Telephone , and the Pet Shop Boys remixed Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) . Other artists involved in the remix versions include Alphabeat , Frankmusik , Stuart Price, and Monarchy and Robots to Mars. The remix album was released in the UK on May 10, 2010 and includes a UK version of the album. On August 3, 2010, a third version of the CD with only 10 tracks was released in the United States.

The Remix was released in two different cover versions: the international and Japanese cover with a half-naked Lady Gaga and the censored cover in Great Britain and the United States.

criticism

Simon Cage of the Daily Express gave the album a mixed three out of five stars, stating, “Lady Gaga's talent ensures that the same album is sold over and over again. […] That’s great, […] but at some point it’s enough! ”. Reviewing the piano version of Poker Face, music critic JD Considine stated, “The best song on their new remix album - their second album in nine months - not all songs are remixes, but Poker Face's piano version shows your inner Elton John . This shows Lady Gaga for once of her better image , but it doesn't make her brilliant. "Matthew Richardson of Prefix Magazine gave mixed feedback on The Sound of Arrows Remix by Alejandro , saying that they" made the remix a lot worse than it did is the original version of Gaga, and her musical style does not match the Latin pop song Alejandro ”.

Commercial win

After the album was released in Japan, it reached 7th place in the album charts there. On May 17, 2010, the album was awarded gold in Japan for over 100,000 units sold. Top positions in Greece, Belgium, Canada and Ireland, as well as top twenty positions in many other countries. In the UK, the album debuted on May 16, 2010 at number 3 on the UK album charts. The album debuted at number 7 in the European album charts.
