The University of East Piedmont ( Università degli Studi del Piemonte Orientale "Amedeo Avogadro" , also Università del Piemonte Orientale , abbr .: UNIPMN or UPO) is a state university based in Alessandria , Novara and Vercelli . The university was spun off from the University of Turin in 1998 . It is named after Amedeo Avogadro .
