The Muelheim (Ruhr) -Styrum station is one of three existing rail transport Keep in Mülheim an der Ruhr . It is located in the Styrum district at the intersection of Hauskampstrasse and Steinkampstrasse. It is a separation station where the Oberhausen - Mülheim-Styrum line merges with the Duisburg - Essen main line .
Location and structure
The station is used for both passenger and freight traffic. The track system comprises a total of five platform tracks. The S-Bahn trains and regional trains to and from Duisburg use tracks 2 and 5, the trains to and from Oberhausen use tracks 3 and 4 on the two central platforms. The house platform with track 1 and track 6 (without platform) are used for long-distance and regional trains to pass through, while track 7 is used for freight traffic as a through track in the direction of Oberhausen. To the north of this are the platforms 8-18 (without platform 12).
In the station there are two siding to the Mannesmannröhren-Werke and to the Friedrich Wilhelms-Hütte .
The station has been controlled from the Mülheim (Ruhr) -Styrum signal box since 1967. In addition to the Styrum train station, the parking area also includes the Mülheim (Ruhr) West stop and the Mülheim main train station as well as the subsequent sections of the free route . The interlocking is a relay interlocking of the type SpDrS59, the remote control area Mülheim (Ruhr) Hbf is of the type SpDrS60. The free line to Essen is equipped with self- block signals of the type Sbk60. In the early morning of October 4, 2015, a fire in the control room made the signal box inoperable until March 21, 2016.
history
The Styrum station was built on the railway connection of the Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (BME) from Duisburg-Ruhrort to Essen, which has existed since 1862 . In addition to this, the connecting curves from Oberhausen and Duisburg flow into the route in the Styrum area. With the connection from Kettwig opened in 1876, there was a further rail connection of the BME to the south. The latter was initially only served by goods traffic from Styrum, while passenger trains ran via a connecting curve directly to Mülheim station (today Mülheim (Ruhr) West ).
With the incorporation of Styrum into Mülheim an der Ruhr in 1904, the station was renamed Mülheim (Ruhr) -Styrum . A new station building went into operation in 1910, and passenger trains from Kettwig to Styrum have been running since the same year.
traffic
The Mülheim (Ruhr) -Styrum station is only served by regional trains and S-Bahn trains. With the S-Bahn lines S1 and S3 there are direct connections to Düsseldorf , Duisburg , Oberhausen , Essen , Bochum and Dortmund , the lines RB 33 and RE 49 also provide connections to Aachen , Krefeld , Mönchengladbach , Wesel and Wuppertal . Until 1995 there was also a shuttle service with battery-powered railcars of the 515 series to Duisburg-Ruhrort. Furthermore, the trains of the Lower Ruhr Valley Railway to Kettwig in Styrum ended by 1968 . The head track of the Kettwig trains and the turning track of the battery-powered railcars (located between track 3 and 4) no longer exist after the two connections have been set.
In freight transport, the handling of coal and steel products such as steel coils or steel plates is of great importance.
At the southern exit of the station there was a connection to line 110 of the Mülheim / Oberhausen tram until October 3, 2015 . Today the bus line 128 and the night line NE2 stop at the main exit of Mülheim's local transport , and you can also change to bus lines 122 and 129 at the Hauskampstraße / Bf Styrum stop.
