Baška (German Baschka ) is a municipality with 3398 inhabitants in the Czech Republic . It is located six kilometers south of Frýdek-Místek on the Ostrawitza and belongs to the Okres Frýdek-Místek . The cadastral area is 1283 ha.
geography
The place is located along the Bystrý potok at 313 m above sea level. M. on the right bank of the Ostrawitza on the historical border between Moravia and Silesia . In the northeast lies the Baška reservoir, which is fed by the Baštice stream. The railway runs through Baška between Frýdlant nad Ostravicí and Frýdek-Místek . To the left of Ostrawitza for State Road 56, which also connects the aforementioned cities.
Neighboring towns are Staré Město in the north, Skalice and Záhoří in the east, Baščica and Janovice in the southeast, Pržno in the south, Hodoňovice in the southwest, Kunčičky u Bašky in the west and Bahno in the northwest.
history
The first written mention of Baška comes from the year 1434. The village was part of the Silesian Duchy of Teschen . The Hildegard hammer was created in 1723, followed by two more hammer mills , the Karlhammer and Joachimhammer . In 1806, Duchess Marie Christine of Austria had a blast furnace built and in 1909 the smelting in Baschka was stopped again due to unprofitability.
In 1921 a brick factory was built and on September 8, 1929 the Bohemian brothers consecrated the Hus house.
1960 Hodoňovice and Kunčičky u Bašky were incorporated.
