Chauvé ( Breton : Kalveg ) is a French municipality with 2876 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire . Chauvé belongs to the arrondissement Saint-Nazaire and is part of the canton of Pornic (until 2015: canton of Saint-Père-en-Retz ). The inhabitants are called Chauvéens .
geography
Chauvé is located about 35 kilometers west of Nantes in the historic Pays de Retz region south of the Loire estuary . The Canal de Haute Perche runs along the southern edge of the municipality . Chauvé is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Père-en-Retz in the north and north-west, Saint-Viaud in the north, Chaumes-en-Retz in the east and south-east and Pornic in the south and west.
