European Women's Football Championship 2017 / Denmark

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article covers the Danish national team at the 2017 European Women's Football Championship in the Netherlands . Denmark took part in all finals except 1987, but was able to reach the final for the first time in 2017. which was lost 2: 4 against the hosts. The previous best placements were two third places (1991, 1993).

qualification

Denmark was drawn to qualify in Group 4 and once again met Sweden, who had previously been played 52 times - the most common pairing in European women's football at international level. By contrast, they met Moldova for the first time and won 4-0 in their first game. After a 1-0 defeat against the Swedes, they only gave up one point in the 0-0 win in Poland. All other games were won without conceding a goal. The loss of points in Poland meant second place behind the Swedes in the end, which was enough for the direct qualification, as they were second-best group runner-up and conceded the fewest goals of all group runners-up. Only defending champions Germany and France conceded fewer (zero) goals. The best Danish goalscorers in the qualification were Pernille Harder and Nadia Nadim with 7 goals each.
