The 2012/13 season of the Oberliga is the fifth season of the Oberliga as the fifth highest division in football in Germany after the introduction of the 3rd division as the third division in the 2008/09 season and the downgrading of the regional league to the fourth division.
Changes
With the dissolution of the NRW League , the re-introduced Oberliga Westfalen as well as the Oberliga Niederrhein and Mittelrheinliga emerged. The Oberliga Südwest traded under the name Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz / Saar from this season .

Promotion and relegation to the regional league

In the Regionalliga Bayern two places in the relegation were awarded for the 2013/14 season . The two runners-up of the North and South squadrons of the Bayern League and the table sixteenth and seventeenth of the Regionalliga took part.
The following teams qualified for the relegation games:
- Tables-16. Regionalliga Bayern: FC Augsburg II
- Tables-17. Regionalliga Bayern: SpVgg Bayern Hof
- Second-best placed contender of the Bayernliga Staffel Nord: TSV Großbardorf
- Second-best placed contender of the Bayernliga Staffel Süd: BC Aichach
The two regional leagues finally prevailed and remained in the regional league, while Aichach and Großbardorf remained in the Bayern league.

Regionalliga North
In the Regionalliga Nord , two places in the promotion round were awarded for the 2013/14 season . The champions of the Schleswig-Holstein League and the runner-up of the Lower Saxony Oberliga as well as the top-ranked license candidates for the Regional League North of the Bremen League and Oberliga Hamburg took part.
