Günter Rohrbach Film Prize
With the foundation of the Günter Rohrbach Film Prize , the Saarland city of Neunkirchen would like to honor its son, the film producer Günter Rohrbach , and promote German-language films and regional culture.

The project has the character of a competition prize, it is awarded annually. The award was launched in summer 2011. The main prize is endowed with € 10,000. In addition, actor prizes of € 5,000 are awarded, the Saarland Radio Prize (endowed with € 5,000), the Saarland Film GmbH price (endowed with € 3,500) and the City of Neunkirchen Prize (endowed with € 2,500).
Permanent members of the jury are currently: Lord Mayor Jürgen Fried, Uli Aselmann from die film gmbh, one representative each from Saarländischer Rundfunk and Saarbrücker Zeitung, as well as other active members in the film scene every year. In the first year of the competition, the film actress Senta Berger chaired the jury. In 2012 Elmar Wepper took over and in 2013 Juliane Köhler could be won as chairwoman of the jury. Barbara Auer held this position in 2014, Klaus Doldinger in 2015 and Burghart Klaußner was won in 2016 . In 2017 Nicolette Krebitz took over the chairmanship of the jury and in 2018 Herbert Knaup .
The first award ceremony took place on November 18, 2011 in the Neunkirchen community center. The winning title was the film Unter dir die Stadt by director Christoph Hochhäusler .
Conditions of participation
The competition is open to "German-language feature films (cinema and television films) with a length of at least 80 minutes that belong to the subject area 'World of Work and Society'". A preliminary jury will preselect eight films from among the entries. The jury then selects four films from which the winners will be determined. These four films will be shown in the Stummschen Reithalle in the week before the award ceremony.
