The 1992 Icelandic football championship was the 81st season of the Icelandic highest football league . The league began on May 23, 1992 and ended with the last games on September 13, 1992.
The ten participating clubs competed against each other twice in a simple round-trip round. Newcomer ÍA Akranes was able to win the title for the first time since 1984 . It was the 13th triumph in the club's history. The second promoted team, Þór Akureyri , easily managed to stay in third place. Defending champion Víkingur Reykjavík had to be content with seventh place.
