Jon Lynn Christensen (born February 20, 1963 in St. Paul , Howard County , Nebraska ) is an American politician . Between 1995 and 1999 he represented the second constituency of the state of Nebraska in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Jon Christensen graduated from St. Paul High School and then, until 1985, Midland Lutheran College in Fremont . He then studied law at the South Texas College of Law in Houston until 1989 . After graduating from college, Christensen became a successful manager in the business world. In 1992, he was vice president of COMREP, Inc. and then a director of Connecticut Mutual Insurance Company . He was also at the foundation of the company Aquila Group Inc. involved.

Politically, Christensen became a member of the Republican Party . As their candidate, he was elected to the US House of Representatives in 1994, where he replaced the Democrat Peter Hoagland on January 3, 1995 . After a re-election in 1996, he was able to exercise his mandate in Congress until January 3, 1999. In the 1998 elections, he had not run for another term. Instead, he ran unsuccessfully in his party's primary election for the nomination as governor of Nebraska.

His first marriage to Meredith Stewart Smith was divorced in 1996. Christensen has been married to the former Miss America Tara Dawn Holland for the second time since 1998 . The couple has one child.
