Jesse Burr Strode

Jesse Burr Strode (born February 18, 1845 in Farmers Township , Fulton County , Illinois , † November 1, 1924 in Lincoln , Nebraska ) was an American politician .

During the American Civil War Strode served from September 10, 1861 in Company G in the 15th Regiment in the Illinois Volunteer Infantry . After the war he went to Abingdon . There he was school director from 1865 to 1873, was elected mayor twice and was on the city council six times. Strode studied law and moved to Nebraska, where he settled in Plattsmouth on May 1, 1879 . He was inducted into the bar in November of that year and began practicing in Plattsmouth.

From 1882 to 1888 he was a district attorney ( district attorney ). During this time he moved to Lincoln in 1887 and began practicing again. In 1892 Strode became a judge at the district court. Two years later he was elected to Congress . There he represented the state of Nebraska from March 4, 1895 to March 3, 1899 as a Republican in the US House of Representatives . After leaving politics, Strode returned to his previous job. He died in Lincoln on November 1, 1924 and was buried in Wyuka Cemetery .
