Hal Daub

Harold John "Hal" Daub Jr. (born April 23, 1941 in Fort Bragg , North Carolina ) is an American politician ( Republican Party ). Between 1981 and 1989 he represented the second constituency of the state of Nebraska in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Hal Daub attended Benson High School in Omaha until 1959 . He then studied at Washington University in St. Louis ( Missouri ) until 1963 . He graduated from the University of Nebraska with a law degree in 1966 . Between 1966 and 1968 he did his military service in the US Army .

In 1970 and 1980 Daub was a delegate at the Nebraska Republican Congresses. In 1980 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in the second district of Nebraska, where he succeeded John Joseph Cavanaugh on January 3, 1981 . After he was confirmed in his mandate in each of the following congressional elections, Daub was able to complete a total of four legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 1989 .

In 1988 Daub decided not to run for the US House of Representatives again. Instead, he unsuccessfully applied for the Republican nomination for the US Senate . In 1990 another attempt to be elected to the Senate failed. After that, Hal Daub was mayor of the city of Omaha between 1995 and 2001. In 2009, he applied unsuccessfully to return to this post. He is currently working as a lawyer in a private law firm.
