Charles Gustav Binderup

Charles Gustav Binderup (born March 5, 1873 in Horsens , Denmark , † August 19, 1950 in Minden , Nebraska ) was an American politician . Between 1935 and 1939 he represented the fourth constituency of the state of Nebraska in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Charles Binderup came to the United States with his parents as a toddler at the age of six months. The family settled on a farm near Hastings , Nebraska. Charles attended public schools in his new home and the Grand Island Business College . He then worked in the area of ​​Hastings and Minden in agriculture and trade. He was also involved in the dairy business.

Politically, Binderup became a member of the Democratic Party . In the congressional elections of 1934 he was elected to the US House of Representatives, where he replaced Ashton Shallenberger on January 3, 1935 . After a re-election in 1936, he was able to exercise his mandate in Congress until January 3, 1939. In the 1938 elections he was defeated by Republican Carl Curtis . In 1940 he ran unsuccessfully as an independent candidate for return to Congress. He was then a co-founder and member of the Constitutional Money League of America in Minden . Charles Binderup died in 1950 and was buried in Minden.
