Lee Terry

Lee Raymond Terry (born January 29, 1962 in Omaha , Nebraska ) is an American politician ( Republican Party ). From 1999 to 2015 he represented the second constituency of the state of Nebraska in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Lee Terry attended Northwest High School in Omaha and then studied at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln until 1984 . After completing a law degree at Creighton Law School in Omaha, he was admitted to the bar in 1987. He then started to work in his new profession, specializing in civil law. Terry was a member of the Omaha City Council from 1991 to 1998. There he was chairman of the committee for two years. In the 1998 congressional elections, he was elected to the US House of Representatives in the second district of Nebraska.

After being confirmed in office in the following years, he was able to remain in Congress until January 3, 2015 . There he was most recently a member of the Energy and Trade Committee . In the 2014 congressional elections , he lost his seat as one of only two incumbent Republican MPs. The Democrat Brad Ashford defeated him with 49:46 percent of the vote.

Terry advocated a ban on internet gambling during his time as MP and advocated research into alternative energy sources. He lives privately with his Fray Robyn in Omaha.
