John Seaton Robinson

John Seaton Robinson (born May 4, 1856 in Wheeling , Virginia , † May 25, 1903 in Madison , Nebraska ) was an American politician . Between 1899 and 1903 he represented the third constituency of the state of Nebraska in the US House of Representatives .

Career

John Robinson was born in 1856 in Wheeling, which was then part of Virginia and is now part of West Virginia . He attended the public schools in his home country and then studied law. After his admission to the bar in 1880, he began working in this profession in Madison. Between 1886 and 1888 and again from 1890 to 1892 he was a District Attorney in Madison County . He then served as a judge in the Nebraska Nebraska Ninth Legal District between 1893 and 1895.

Robinson was a member of the Democratic Party and was elected as its candidate in the US House of Representatives in 1898. There he replaced Samuel Maxwell on March 4, 1899 . After re-election in 1900, he could remain in Congress until March 3, 1903 . In the congressional elections of 1902 he was defeated by Republican John Jay McCarthy .

John Robinson died just months after leaving Congress on May 25, 1903.
