Experience Estabrook

Experience Estabrook (born April 30, 1813 in Lebanon , New Hampshire , †  March 26, 1894 in Omaha , Nebraska ) was an American politician . Between 1859 and 1860 he represented the Nebraska Territory as a delegate in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1822 Estabrook moved with his parents to Clarence in Erie County ( New York ). There he attended public schools and later Dickinson College in Carlisle ( Pennsylvania ). Experience Estabrook graduated from Chambersburg Law School , also in Pennsylvania, with a law degree . After being admitted to the bar in 1839, he began to work as an employee in the port of Brooklyn and later as a lawyer in Buffalo .

In 1840 Estabrook moved to Geneva , Wisconsin Territory , where he also worked as a lawyer. In 1848 he was a delegate to the Wisconsin Constituent Assembly and in 1851 he was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly . Between 1852 and 1853 he then served as Attorney General in that state .

In 1855, he was named Attorney General in the Nebraska Territory by President Franklin Pierce . He held this office until 1859. In the congressional election of 1858 he was elected delegate of that territory to the US House of Representatives. Estabrook took up his seat in Congress on March 4, 1859. However, his choice was challenged by Samuel Gordon Daily . After this objection was granted, he had to give up his mandate on May 18, 1860 Daily.

In 1866, Estabrook was entrusted with the revision of the laws of Nebraska. Between 1867 and 1868 he was a district attorney in Douglas County . In 1871 Estabrook was a delegate to a meeting to revise the Nebraska state constitution. He died in 1894 and was buried in Omaha.
