Jackson B. Chase

Jackson Burton Chase (born August 19, 1890 in Seward , Seward County , Nebraska , † May 4, 1974 in Atlanta , Georgia ) was an American politician . Between 1955 and 1957 he represented the second constituency of the state of Nebraska in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Jackson Chase grew up in California and Illinois and worked as a teenager for the Burlington Railroad . He then returned to Nebraska and graduated from Omaha High School in 1907 . Between 1907 and 1910 he worked for the John Deere company . He then studied until 1912 at the University of Nebraska . He graduated from the University of Michigan with a law degree . After his admission to the bar in 1913, he began working in this profession in Chicago . During the First World War he served in the artillery of the US Army .

Politically, Chase was a member of the Republican Party . Between 1921 and 1922 he was the Assistant Attorney General of Nebraska; from 1923 to 1942 he worked as a lawyer in Omaha. He was a legal advisor to the Nebraska Welfare Committee in 1930 and 1931 and was a member of the Nebraska House of Representatives between 1933 and 1934 . In addition to his legal practice, Chase also worked farmland in both Nebraska and Iowa .

During World War II , Jackson Chase was a major at the Judge Advocate General's Corps headquarters . From 1945 to 1946 he chaired the Nebraska Alcohol Control Committee. After that he was a judge in the fourth legal district of his state until 1954. That year Chase was elected to the US House of Representatives, where he took the seat previously held by Roman Hruska on January 3, 1955 . In 1956, Chase no longer stood for election. Therefore, until January 3, 1957, he was only able to serve one term in Congress .

After his time in Congress in Washington , Jackson Chase worked again as a judge until 1960. Politically, he did not appear again after his time at the Congress.
