Howard Buffett

Howard Homan Buffett (born August 13, 1903 in Omaha , Nebraska , † April 30, 1964 ) was an American businessman and politician . Big investor and entrepreneur Warren Buffett is his son.

Buffett studied at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln , where he was co-editor of the Daily Nebraskan newspaper . It was there that he met his future wife Leila Stahl, with whom he had three children. He finished his studies in 1925. In 1931 he founded the brokerage company Buffet-Falk & Company .

In 1942 he was elected as a Republican to Congress , where he represented the state of Nebraska from January 3, 1943 to January 3, 1949 in the United States House of Representatives . In the 1948 elections he failed to defend his seat in the House of Representatives: he was defeated by the Democrat Eugene Daniel O'Sullivan . O'Sullivan, in turn, lost his seat in the next election in 1950 and Buffett was again a member of Congress from January 3, 1951 to January 3, 1953. In 1952 he no longer ran for election.

Buffett turned back to his previous professional activities. He died on April 30, 1964 in Omaha and was buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park .
