The Mestaruussarja 1947/48 is regarded as an intermediate season, as the coming season was held in 1948. Most of the games took place in the fall of 1947.

For the last time, teams from the national sports association (or the SPL) and the TUL held their championships separately. Champion of the SPL was Vaasa IFK before Helsingfors IFK . The best six teams and the two promoted teams qualified for the coming season, together with the best eight teams from TUL.
