history

The localities of the former municipality probably emerged in the 6th to 10th centuries. After the Thirty Years' War the area was almost extinct due to the plague and chaos of war. In the 17th and 18th centuries, Salzburg, Tyrolean and Swiss emigrants repopulated the villages.

A school was founded in Mosbach in 1551 and continued until 1971.

Mosbach was in the Fraisch district of the Ansbach Oberamt Feuchtwangen . In 1732 the place consisted of 30 properties with 32 teams. There was also 1 church, 1 rectory, 1 schoolhouse and 2 shepherds' houses. The village and community rulership was held by the Stiftsvogteiamt Feuchtwangen . The landlords were the Feuchtwangen monastery administration office (1 yard, 2 farms with two crews, 2 tabern and 1 cone taverns, 1 forge, 1 bath house, 3 bakeries, 16 Gütlein and Söldenhäuslein) and the caste office Feuchtwangen (3 Söldenhäuslein, whereby the dues of two Property went to the parish of Mosbach). From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice and Chamber Office Feuchtwangen . The number of properties remained unchanged.

In 1806 Mosbach came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . With the community edict (early 19th century) the tax district Mosbach was formed, to which the places Bergnerzell , Heiligenkreuz , Hilpertsweiler , Kühnhardt am Schlegel , Reichenbach , Seiderzell and Tribur belonged. A little later, the rural community of Mosbach was formed with the towns of Bergnerzell, Kühnhardt am Schlegel, Reichenbach, Seiderzell and Tribur. It was subject to the Feuchtwangen Regional Court in terms of administration and jurisdiction . The municipality had an area of 16,537 km².

New school buildings were built in 1833 and 1913; the latter now serves as a sports center for SV Mosbach, which was founded in 1971. In 1901 the Mosbach-Tribur volunteer fire brigade was founded. In 1932 the trombone choir was founded by Pastor Schmidt.

When the Americans set up their headquarters in Reichenbach during the Second World War , the village of Mosbach surrendered and the then teacher Fischer and Pastor Schmidt ran to the American headquarters with a white flag in hand. When they returned to Mosbach, they saw that the women of the village had already hoisted a white flag on the church tower of Michaeliskirche in Mosbach. Half of Seiderzell and Kühnhardt burned down.

On January 1, 1972, the municipality of Mosbach was incorporated into Feuchtwangen as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
