Nevio De Zordo

Nevio De Zordo (born March 11, 1943 in Cibiana di Cadore , Belluno , † March 26, 2014 ) was an Italian bobsledder .

Life

Nevio De Zordo came from a family of " Gelatieri " (ice cream makers). In 1959 she emigrated to Cologne to sell ice cream there. The family traditionally spent the winter in their Italian homeland in the Dolomites , so that De Zordo could train bobsleigh in Cortina d'Ampezzo .

At the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo , De Zordo won the silver medal in the four-man bobsleigh. In 1969 he became world champion in two-man bobsleigh and 1970 in four-man bobsleigh. He was also twice vice world champion and in 1964 European champion in the two-man bobsleigh.

For 40 years, Nevio De Zordo ran an ice cream parlor with his family in Cologne-Sülz . Most recently he ran a café on the premises of Cologne University .

De Zordo was buried in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (hall 17 U no. 555).
