Bodebert means "the one who shines as ruler", a name that was particularly popular with the noble family of the Hennebergers ( Grafschaft Henneberg ). The meaning of the place name Poppenhausen, in dialect Bobbahausa, is therefore "belonging to the houses of Bodebert".
