The Wuppertal residential area Rauental is one of nine quarters in the Langerfeld-Beyenburg district in the Wupper valley . Rauental can be found in older literature in the spelling " Rauenthal ".
geography
The 1.07 km² residential area is bordered by the Wupper and the Rauentaler Berg road in the west , the Höfen ( Bundesstraße 7 ) and Grundstraße road in the north, the Wuppertal-Oberbarmen – Solingen railway line in the east and the federal motorway in the south-east and south 1 limited. Clockwise, the residential areas Oberbarmen-Schwarzbach , Jesinghauser Straße , Langerfeld-Mitte , Ehrenberg , Hammesberg and Heckinghausen surround the residential area Rauental.
Most of the residential area is built on. In the north, multi-family houses dominate the cityscape, while the east, from the valley location up to the federal highway 1, was predominantly built on by single-family houses. The Schmitteborn high-rise estate there is a particular focus of urban development due to social problems .
The district of Öhde is mainly occupied by an industrial area. The railway line with the Rauenthal depot takes up additional space . One of the sights and popular photo opportunities after the destruction of Haus Rauental was the deep cut of the Rauenthal and Langerfeld tunnels .
