Rocky Raccoon is a song by the Beatles from 1968. It can be stylistically assigned to country , but both the text and the music are more of a parody of this genre .

Authorship

Although Rocky Raccoon , like almost all Beatles songs , is drawn with Lennon / McCartney , it is essentially a composition by Paul McCartney . John Lennon only contributed little things. Even the folk musician Donovan was involved. The song was composed in early 1968 during the Beatles' stay with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in Rishikesh, India.

Rocky Raccoon was first in November 1968 by the label Apple on the album The Beatles released. This version is Take 10. On the compilation Anthology 3 , an alternative version appeared in 1996 with Take 8.

The comic book authors Keith Giffen and Bill Mantlo were inspired to create a superhero by Rocky Raccoon : In 1976 they created a raccoon named Rocket Raccoon for Marvel .
