Saint-Barthelemy-d'Anjou is a western commune with 9195 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Angers and is part of the canton of Angers-6 (until 2015: Angers-Est ). The inhabitants are called Bartholoméen (ne) .

Saint-Barthélemy-d'Anjou is a banlieue east of Angers . Saint-Barthélemy-d'Anjou is surrounded by the neighboring communities Verrières-en-Anjou in the north, Le Plessis-Grammoire in the north-east, Loire-Authion in the east, Trélazé in the south and south-east, Angers in the west and south-west and Écouflant in the north-west.

history

In 1939 the exiled President of the Republic of Poland, Władysław Raczkiewicz, resided here . In 1940 the Navy of the Third Reich occupied the place and stayed for four more years.
