In Villebon-sur-Yvette there has been a radio transmission system for medium wave since 1935 . The transmitter was destroyed on August 18, 1944 by the withdrawing German troops, but was soon able to go back into operation, albeit at first with reduced performance. On December 10, 1961, one of the station's two antenna masts was blown up by terrorists.

The transmitter in Villebon-sur-Yvette uses two self-radiating guyed steel truss masts with a triangular cross-section as an antenna system. Since September 4, 2000, the France Bleu 107.1 program has been broadcast in AM stereo with an output of 300 kW at a frequency of 864 kHz . Because of its high output, this transmitter is the easiest to receive AM stereo transmitter in German-speaking countries, especially during the night.
