Tommi Piper
Thomas "Tommi" Piper (born March 19, 1941 in Berlin ) is a German actor , voice actor and singer . The role that made him known in German-speaking countries was that of the alien Alf in the sitcom of the same name, to which he lent his voice. He was also the singer of the Krautrock band Amon Düül II in the second half of the 1970s .
Life
As the son of the actor and television broadcaster Heinz Piper, Thomas Piper already appeared in radio plays on the NWDR in 1952 and was in front of the camera for the first time three years later. From 1959 to 1961 he studied commercial graphics at the master school for fashion in Hamburg, but then continued to work in acting. In the late 1960s and 1970s, Piper recorded several records.
Thomas Piper played in the film Zwei wie wir… and the parents don't know anything (1966) and in three episodes of the series Der Kommissar . He had engagements at the Landesbühne Hannover and the Städtische Bühnen Lübeck and performed in Paris, Lyon and Marseille during a tour of France. After he settled in Munich, various guest appearances followed in the crime series Derrick and Der Alte as well as leading roles in the films Is' was, Chancellor (1984) and Steig aus dein Luftballon (1985). In total, Piper played in more than 150 film and television productions.
He is also active in the dubbing studio, one of his first dubbing roles was that of Little Joe ( Michael Landon ) in the western series Bonanza . Other actors Piper lent his voice included: a. Nick Nolte ( 48 hours only ) , Harvey Fierstein ( Independence Day ) , Tony Danza ( Who's the boss? ) And Andrew Dice Clay ( Ford Fairlane - Rock 'n' Roll Detective ) . In addition, Piper dubbed various supporting roles in the series Raumschiff Enterprise and he took on the dubbing role of Hikaru Sulu, played by George Takei , in the fourth and fifth Star Trek films . Another well-known synchronization of Piper was that of the evil magician Rumburak from the Czech fairy tale bride series .
In 1989 he released the album Tommi Piper sings Alf (Polydor, producer: Anthony Monn ), the title of which was Hallo Alf, this is Rhonda - the chorus (Rhonda's voice) was sung by the soprano Amélie Sandmann , with the Piper at that time was in a relationship - was placed in the German single charts for twelve weeks. He also dubbed the plush bunny Mr. Floppy in the television series Auf Worse and Eternal and the hedgehog Hogi in the Austrian animal comedy Hogi's Family .
For many years, Piper has also been heard as the “Bauspar fuchs” in the TV advertising of Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall . In 1998 he took over the synchronization of Manny Calavera in the PC game Grim Fandango from LucasArts. In November 2016, the director Eric Hordes won him over for the synchronized role of the magician Rumburak, which was played again by Jiří Lábus after 20 years . He is also involved in the first episode of the Not Funny series, which appeared in 2013 .
In January 2019, Piper was a contestant for the thirteenth season of I'm a Star - Get Me Out of Here! to see and took 10th place.
Piper is also active as a musician ( banjo , ukulele and vocals ). He has also spoken numerous audio books for children and adults in recent years.
