The Cadillac Arena (originally: Wukesong Indoor Stadium ) is a multi-purpose hall in the Haidian district of the Chinese capital Beijing . It was the venue for the 2008 Olympic basketball tournament and will host the 2022 Olympic ice hockey tournament and offers 18,000 seats.
history
Construction work for the Wukesong indoor stadium began on March 29, 2005 and ended in January 2008. The hall covers an area of 160,000 square meters and has three floors below ground and four floors above ground. On the second floor there are 45 boxes, 29 large and 16 smaller, for guests of honor and celebrities. With a rainwater recycling system and easy-to-clean glass surfaces , environmental and high-tech aspects should be taken into account.
Between January 2011 and the end of 2015 the sports facility operated under the name MasterCard Center. From 2016 to 2017 the stadium was called LeSports Center after a brand of the Chinese company LeEco . Since September 2017 the hall has been called Cadillac Arena .
The Beijing Ducks basketball team from the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) has been based in the multi-purpose arena since 2012 . The Beijing Lions of the China Arena Football League (CAFL) have also been using the hall since 2016 . In addition, since the season 2016/17, the home games are in the hall Hockey - Franchise Kunlun Red Star from the Continental Hockey League held (KHL).
The Cadillac Arena is planned as the venue for the 2019 World Basketball Championship . Ice hockey games are to be played there at the 2022 Winter Olympics .
