The Autostrada A16 was an Italian motorway that ran from Rome to Civitavecchia .

The section from Rome to Civitavecchia, originally classified as “A16”, was opened to traffic in December 1966 and inaugurated on January 18 of that year in the presence of Ministers Andreotti , Bo and Mancini.

The motorway ran from the junction with the A91 motorway along one of the runways of the Leonardo da Vinci international airport to Fregene. This was followed by the Torrimpietra , Cerveteri - Ladispoli , Santa Marinella - Santa Severa , Civitavecchia (south and north) junctions until it merged with the Aurelia state road north of Civitavecchia . This motorway was later rededicated as a section of the A12 . In 1973 the number A16 was assigned to the Napoli - Canosa motorway , which originally was part of the A17 .
