The Raccordo autostradale 14 ( Italian for 'motorway feeder 14') is a motorway feeder in north-east Italy that connects the RA 13 , which leads to Trieste and the A4 , with the Slovenian A3 . It is only 1.5 km long and lies entirely in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia . The motorway slip road is a section of the Adriatic-Ionian motorway from Trieste to Kalamata .
General
The RA14 connects Trieste with Slovenia . It is only 1.5 km long and ends at the Fernetti border crossing , the route has two junctions . The RA14 is toll-free.
It is also part of the Grande Viabilità Triestina (GVT for short), an outer ring of Trieste consisting of four-lane state roads and motorway-like roads. Together with the RA13 and other four-lane state roads, the city will be bypassed, which is primarily intended to reduce transit traffic in the center of Trieste.
The Slovenian A3, which leads to Postojna , connects Trieste and Venice with Ljubljana (via the A1 ).
The RA14 has two different symbols. On the one hand, it has the rectangle that is used as standard for the motorway access roads in Italy.
In addition, there is also a green octagon on newer information boards, which is only used for Italian motorways.
history
The construction of a motorway between Trieste and Slovenia is part of the agreement between what was then Yugoslavia and Italy in the Osimo Treaty . The Decreto del Presidente della Repubblica 6 marzo 1978, n.100 GU n.102 suppl. ord. del 13/04/1978 confirmed the planned construction of the RA14. However, it took several decades until it was finally completed in 1997. However, the Decreto Legislativo 29 ottobre 1999, n.461 from 1999 did not classify the route as a motorway, but only as RA14 .
