  • The Raccordo autostradale 13 ( Italian for 'motorway feeder 13') is a motorway feeder in north-eastern Italy that runs from the A4 to Trieste . It is 24.75 km long and lies entirely in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia . The motorway slip road is a section of the Adriatic-Ionian motorway from Trieste to Kalamata .

    The RA13 towards A4

    course

The bridge number boards do not show RA13 , but collegamento autostradale

At Sistiana , the A4 merges into the RA13 without any structural changes. The route then leads through the karst landscape along the Gulf of Trieste . At Prosecco, the RA14 branches off to Slovenia to the A3 .

Then it leads past Villa Opicina above the city of Trieste to Padriciano, where it changes to the SS 202 Triestina, which leads to Muggia and Koper (Slovenia).

    General

The RA13 represents the most important connection between Trieste and Slovenia with the rest of Italy. This motorway feeder is equipped with green signs - like the Italian motorways - and connects to the A4 at Sistiana without any visible changes. In addition, information boards do not show the designation RA13, but only "collegamento autostradale" (motorway feeder ).

The Decreto del Ministero dei Lavori Pubblici 6 agosto 1997 classified the feeder provisionally as RA13. However, the Decreto Legislativo 29 ottobre 1999, n.461 1999 did not include the motorway feeder in the network of Italian motorways and it remained with the designation RA13 .

So far, the RA13 has been toll-free like most motorway feeders in Italy.

The RA 13 as part of the Grande Viabilità Triestina

    The GVT with the RA13

Under Grande viabilità Triestina (short: GVT) is the city bypass the port of Trieste, resulting from feeder road and developed state roads composed.

For a long time Trieste was not connected to any motorway network. With the fall of communism , the independence of Slovenia and the associated increase in traffic in Trieste, the connection to the Slovenian motorway network became increasingly important. Today the GVT runs from Sistiana to Muggia and connects here, as well as at Sežana , the Italian to the Slovenian motorway network. Trieste also received a high-performance bypass.

Construction work on this construction project began in 1980, and routes were gradually opened in the following years. The completion of the construction work was the connection of the SS 202 to the Slovenian H5 via the Rabuiese / Muggia expressway. The construction work lasted 6 years and the total cost was 233 million euros. The last section of the GVT was opened in November 2008.
