  • Route of the A27

The Autostrada A27 ( Italian for 'Autobahn A27'), also known as Autostrada d'Alemagna , is an Italian motorway in the north of the country. It is located in the Veneto region and runs from Mestre to Belluno . The motorway is subject to a toll . It is operated by the Italian motorway company Autostrade per l'Italia .

    Route

The A27 begins east of Venice , where it branches off from the Tangenziale di Mestre . The motorway branch to Venice Airport was originally part of the A27. However, this has been part of the A57 since 2009.

The motorway has six lanes, passing Mogliano Veneto and reaching the junction with the A4 at km 6.4. Continuing slightly to the northeast, it reaches the provincial capital Treviso and Conegliano . There is a connection to the A28 motorway . It opened on October 23, 2010.

From Conegliano the motorway is only four lanes extended and continues north to Vittorio Veneto . To the north of this it reaches the Alps and finally Ponte nelle Alpi at km 84.0 . From here roads lead to Belluno , the Strada Statale 51 di Alemagna into the Cadore and Cortina d'Ampezzo , and the SP 251 into the Zoldotal .

    Structures on the A27

In the section between Venice and Vittorio Veneto there are, apart from smaller bridges, which allow crossing rivers such as B. serve the Piave , no artificial structures.

The section from Vittorio Veneto to the end of the motorway is already in the Alps. Therefore, numerous tunnels and bridges were necessary to pass the route. The longest tunnel on the route is La Cave . It has a length of 3790 m in the south direction and 3153 m in the north direction. The two longest bridges, Fadalto , are also in this section. They reach a total length of 3567 m (to the south) and 3485 m (to the north). Of the total of 82.5 km, 8.5 km in the direction of Venice are in tunnels, and 7.1 km in the direction of Belluno.

    history

The motorway was opened to traffic as far as Vittorio Veneto in 1978 and linked the cities of Conegliano , Treviso and Vittorio Veneto to the Italian motorway network. In 1995 it was extended to Ponte nelle Alpi . There are several viaducts and tunnels over 1000 m in length on this section of the route.

    Expansion plans

Originally the A27 was supposed to continue via Cortina d'Ampezzo to South Tyrol and there via Toblach and Bruneck into the Tauferer Ahrntal . From the Ahrntal there were two planned variants: In the first variant, the Inntal Autobahn was to be reached via the Zillertal . The second variant envisaged a connection via Gerlos into Brixental and from there on towards the Inn Valley . Both variants would have created a new Alpine crossing and a direct connection between Venice and Munich . Alternatively, a further construction only as far as Toblach or a route via East Tyrol were suggested.

Political representatives from the Veneto in particular advocate an extension of the Alemagna . There was and is fierce resistance from South, East and North Tyrol against all of the expansion plans mentioned . The Austrian federal government has also expressed its rejection of the project on several occasions, including with reference to the Alpine Convention , which prohibits the construction of new cross-Alpine road links.
