The Autostrada Roma - Fiumicino A91 ( Italian for 'Motorway A91') is an Italian motorway in the Lazio region . It connects Rome with Fiumicino Airport . It also serves as a feeder to the A12 . It is 18.5 km long and has six lanes between the A90 (Grande Raccordo Anulare - GRA) and the airport, and four lanes within the GRA. It is managed by the Italian motorway company ANAS . The official designation A91 was only given at the beginning of 2000, but remains hidden from users, as only the characteristic green octagon with the content A, but without the associated number, is shown on the signs. It is commonly referred to as Autostrada Roma - Fiumicino , or Roma Fiumicino for short .

So far, like all routes operated by ANAS, the motorway has been toll-free.

history

The construction was completed by ANAS at the same time as the airport opened in 1959. Until 1969, the route was classified as State Road 201 dell'Aeroporto di Fiumicino , since 1969 it has been upgraded to a motorway.
