  • The Autostrada A8 / A26 ( Italian for 'Autobahn A8 / A26'), also called Diramazione Gallarate-Gattico , is a motorway junction that connects the northern Italian cities of Borgomanero and Gallarate and the A26 Genoa - Gravellona Toce to the A8 Varese - Milan connects. This route is also known as D08 . The motorway is operated and managed by the Italian motorway company Autostrade per l'Italia.

The route has been expanded to four lanes between the motorway triangle with the A8 at Gallarate and the Sesto Calende - Vergiate junction and six lanes on the remainder of the route to the motorway triangle with the A26 at Borgomanero. There is also a toll.

    history

The motorway branch between Gallarate and Sesto Calende was opened on September 3, 1925, at the same time as the third phase of expansion of the A8. The section between Sesto Calende and Gattico was opened on December 20, 1988. This motorway branch is therefore one of the oldest in Italy.
