Bailleul is a French commune with 608 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Orne department in the Normandy region (before 2016 Basse-Normandie ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Argentan and the Canton of Argentan-2 ( Trun until 2015 ). The inhabitants are called Bailleulais .

Bailleul is located about seven kilometers northeast of the city center of Argentan . Bailleul is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ommoy in the north and north-west, Guêprei in the north, Coulonces in the north-east, Villedieu-lès-Bailleul in the east, Silly-en-Gouffern in the south and south-east, Occagnes in the south and south-west, Montabard in the west and Brieux and Merri in the northwest.
