La Ferrière-aux-Étangs is a French commune with 1,518 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Orne in the region of Normandy . It belongs to Arrondissement Argentan and Canton La Ferte-Mace (2015: Canton Messei ). The inhabitants are called Ferrièrois .
geography
La Ferrière-aux-Étangs is located on the small river Morinière , a tributary of the Varenne and whose lake gives the municipality its name. The river Vée has its source here . The parish is part of the Normandy-Maine Regional Nature Park . La Ferrière-aux-Étangs is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-André-de-Messei and Saires-la-Verrière in the north, Bellou-en-Houlme in the east and northeast, La Coulonche in the east and southeast, Champsecret in the south, Dompierre in the Southwest and Banvou in the west.
