Habloville is a French municipality with 323 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Orne in the region of Normandy .
geography
Habloville is 30 kilometers northeast of the city of Flers . A few kilometers south is the Orne with the Lac de Rabodanges . The closest places are Neuvy-au-Houlme in the north, Ri in the east, Giel-Courteilles in the south and Champcerie in the west. The municipality is traversed by the Baize , which rises in Habloville.
History and culture
A dolmen from the Neolithic Age as well as a burial mound and several tool finds represent the oldest traces of human settlement. The current location probably dates back to Roman times . A first village church was built in the 11th century at the position of the current church. The church was consecrated in 1053 when the lords of Bellême owned the place . Because Habloville was on the Camino de Santiago and the pilgrimage route to Mont-Saint-Michel , the village was relatively wealthy in the Middle Ages. Some elements have been preserved from the reconstruction of the church in the 13th century. Habloville was little affected by the Hundred Years War . In the 15th century, two chapels were built with Saint-Jacques and Saint-Julien . Lime kilns were located near the place , which were used, among other things, by the blacksmiths in Putanges-Pont-Écrepin . They were shut down in the 19th century. Habloville was linked to Paris by a telegraph . The transfer took six minutes with one attempt. In 1973 a support group for the local church was set up, which in 1992 donated a new organ. The village church is called Notre-Dame de la Nativité (Birth of the Virgin). There are numerous cultural monuments in the church, including a figure of the Virgin Mary with the Child and wood paneling from the 15th century.
