Monts-sur-Orne is a French municipality with 909 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Orne in the region of Normandy . It is part of the Argentan arrondissement and the canton of Magny-le-Désert .
Monts-sur-Orne was created as Commune nouvelle as part of a regional reform on January 1, 2018 through the merger of three former municipalities, which are now districts of Monts-sur-Orne (so-called Communes déléguées ). The once independent municipalities of Goulet , Montgaroult and Sentilly were merged . Goulet acts as the “superordinate district” as the administrative seat.

Monts-sur-Orne is located about seven kilometers west-northwest of Argentan am Orne and is surrounded by the neighboring communities Ri and Commeaux in the north, Occagnes in the north and northeast, Moulins-sur-Orne in the east, Sarceaux in the southeast, Écouché-les-Vallées in the South and west, Giel-Courteilles to the west and northwest and Habloville to the northwest. The A88 autoroute runs through the east of the municipality .
