Rânes is a French commune with 1,045 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Orne in the region of Normandy . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Argentan and the canton of Magny-le-Désert (until 2015: canton of Écouché ). The inhabitants are called Rânais . It is an access community associated with the Normandy-Maine Regional Nature Park .
geography
Rânes is located about 15 kilometers southwest of Argentan and is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Lougé-sur-Maire in the north, Saint-Brice-sous-Rânes in the north and northeast, Vieux-Pont in the east, Saint-Martin-l'Aiguillon in the southeast, Le Champ-de-la-Pierre and Joué-du-Bois in the south, La Chaux in the south-west, Saint-Georges-d'Annebecq in the west and south-west, Faverolles in the west and north-west, and Montreuil-au-Houlme in the north-west.
